Are you trying to cope with loss, longing or grief? Do you find yourself tearing up while you go about your day?

You may have tried to push your feelings away or cried when you couldn’t sleep. Maybe you hope the fogginess will just go away eventually. But that hasn’t made it feel less overwhelming.

To navigate grief, pause to give it space. Notice what you feel in your body. Provide a warm welcome for what you feel and what your body knows. In that way, you can help grief be felt and witnessed.

You don’t have to go it alone.

We’re coaches and facilitators committed to healing, and we look forward to meeting you.

Hi! I’m Mary Alice.

I’m a coach and consultant for organizers and changemakers. I am also the Practice Manager for Embodying Racial Justice. I was the Distributed Organizing Director at the Sierra Club and Field Director at Free Press. Often, you can find me in a garden, playing with my dog, swimming, singing or baking allergy-friendly food.

Hi! I’m Misty.

I’m a certified Somatic Coach and Bodyworker. I work with clients to develop greater awareness and presence, reveal their purpose and live into the life they long for. My ideal clients desire transformation and healing to move towards the futures they long for. I am also the Chief of Staff at Free Press. Learn more about Misty.

Experience & Training

We each have 20+ years of experience in social movement and nonprofit work at the local, state and national levels. We support grief in professional coaching, in teams and in organizations. Our teachers include the Center for Callings and Courage, Embodying Racial Justice, Sarah Peyton, and the Strozzi Institute for Somatics. Our grief work is informed by many sources, including Francis Weller, Lyndsey Scott, Malkia Cyril, Ross Gay and Stephen Jenkinson.

We invite you to a half-day workshop to explore your grief in community.

We are committed to supporting you by:

  • Inviting in the wisdom of your head, heart and mind.

  • Encouraging you to build from what you already know.

  • Offering a warm presence and support you can lean against.

  • Supporting your emotional titration, so you can work at the level of depth that’s right for you.

  • Providing you with resources and practices to support you at home.

In this workshop, you will be invited to gently and compassionately explore grief.

Join us to explore the feelings and learn practices to be with grief, such as:

  • Movement and physical practice

  • Connecting with your breath and body

  • Journal prompts

  • Song and poetry

The practices are designed to build from the wisdom of your body, connect you with other people and engage your curiosity about what your feelings may want you to know. As a result, you’ll be able to bring more of your aliveness, joy and presence to actions that support the world you want to live in.

You’ll leave with resources and a set of activities to use at home.

This workshop may be for you if you:

  • Have some emotional support outside of this workshop, such as a coach, therapist or peer network

  • Are open to exploring emotional content in a group

  • Enjoy being in a group setting

  • Feel ready to try journaling, song, poetry or physical movement practices with other people

  • Are open to exploration and curiously seeing where emotions take you
